Guwahati: In a shocking turn of events, a 44-year-old businessman from Pune, Sandeep Suresh Kamble, was tragically murdered by a couple from West Bengal at a five-star hotel in Guwahati. The Assam Police confirmed that the accused couple, identified as Anjali Shaw (25) and Vikas Kumar Shaw (23) from Kolkata, have been apprehended.

According to police reports, Sandeep had developed a relationship with Anjali after meeting her at Kolkata Airport last year. Despite his proposal for marriage, Anjali declined, leading to a dispute. Sandeep allegedly threatened to expose intimate pictures of Anjali to her family, escalating the situation.

Anjali and her alleged boyfriend Vikas concocted a plan to confront Sandeep in Guwahati. Sandeep arranged for Anjali’s travel and booked a room at Radisson Blu hotel, where Vikas also booked a room.
The accused couple attempted to flee but were detained by police in Guwahati’s Azara area. They will be charged under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (illegal assembly for a common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police investigation suggests that the motive behind the murder stemmed from a love triangle and alleged blackmailing by Sandeep. Sandeep’s body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is underway.
