Guwahati: Samagra Shiksha, Assam has partnered with the World Bank on the project “Supporting School Education in Assam.” This initiative aims to develop a set of leader schools by implementing systemic changes recommended by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
A three-day meeting was held from July 23 to July 25, 2024, at the office of the Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Assam. The meeting, chaired by the Mission Director, included key officials from Samagra Shiksha, the Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), representatives from the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), and the World Bank team led by Education Specialist Ms. Meghna Sharma.

The discussions focused on improving the school education system in Assam. Topics included reforms for Early Childhood Care and Education, improving student learning outcomes, professional development for teachers and officials, adolescent well-being, data management, governance, accountability, and Environmental & Social Safeguards.
The project aims to create leader schools in Assam, aligning with NEP 2020. Key anticipated outcomes include an improved school environment, trained teachers, enhanced school readiness, better learning outcomes, increased interest in Science, crisis management, elimination of malnutrition, community involvement, and governance reforms. This collaboration is set to bring sustainable and impactful transformation to Assam’s school education system.
