SOUL 2025 Film Festival Announced to Celebrate Northeast’s Cultural Bond with Land

Guwahati: The SOUL 2025 – Stories of Unity, Land and Culture, a unique docu-fiction film festival and competition, has been officially announced. Organised under the aegis of Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar, the festival will take place from 19th to 21st September 2025 at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio, Kahilipara, Guwahati.

The event aims to showcase and preserve the sacred connection between people and the land across the diverse communities of Northeast Bharat. It is open to filmmakers, students, cultural groups, and storytellers from all eight Northeastern states.

Participants can submit short docu-fiction films ranging from 5 to 15 minutes, focusing on land worship practices, traditional farming rituals, and nature-based philosophies. Organisers have clarified that SOUL is not a platform to compare communities but to highlight authentic and emotional stories rooted in culture and tradition.

Award categories include:

  • Best Docu-fiction Film – Rs. 1,00,000
  • Second Best Film – Rs. 75,000
  • Third Best Film – Rs. 50,000
  • Best Director – Rs. 25,000
  • Best Cinematographer – Rs. 20,000
  • Special Jury Award – Certificate
