Guwahati: Skål International launched its Guwahati chapter on October 5 at a ceremony held at Vivanta Guwahati. The new chapter has 37 founding members.
Skål International is a global organisation of travel and tourism professionals with a presence in more than 78 countries. The Guwahati chapter will work to promote tourism in Northeast India and connect local tourism businesses with international markets.
Assam Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Rituparna Baruah, Additional Chief Secretary Dr John Berchmans Ekka, ATDC Managing Director Padmapani Borah and Skål International India President S K Venkat Reddy attended the event.
Vishal Jain was formally installed as the Charter President of Skål International Guwahati. The new chapter will focus on tourism promotion, improving hospitality standards and strengthening cooperation between the government and private tourism sector.
Representatives of tourism associations, hotels, airlines, financial institutions and other industry stakeholders from across Northeast India also attended the event.
