Police Officer Suspended for Sending Inappropriate Texts to Girl in Tezpur


Tezpur: A police officer in Tezpur has been suspended for sending inappropriate messages to a girl. The suspended police officer, identified as Lohit Rajbongshi, is an Inspector from the Armed Branch. The Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, confirmed the suspension.

GP Singh stated, “In reference to the incident of an objectionable text message sent to a woman by a policeman in Tezpur, Armed Branch Inspector Lohit Rajbongshi has been suspended. A departmental inquiry has been initiated, which is expected to be completed within seven working days. After the inquiry, appropriate and strict action will be taken. We will not tolerate any misconduct by a police officer.”

Recently DGP announced that 24 police personnel have been dismissed from service since February 2023.
