Sonapur: A tragic incident unfolded in Sonapur, near Guwahati city, as a young minor girl was raped and brutally murdered. The Sonapur police took action and apprehended a 35-year-old man named Babul Tumung, who confessed to committing the heinous crime. Babul Tumung was arrested on July 1.
The shocking incident came to light when the body of the girl was discovered at Digaru river in Sonapur on June 30. Within 24 hours, the local police managed to apprehend the accused, who then confessed to the crime. According to his statement, the murder took place in the Dhemai area, and the body was later dumped in the Digaru river.

The family of the girl, while speaking to the media, revealed that she was just sixteen years old and had been missing since Wednesday, June 28. The entire community is deeply saddened by this tragic event and demands justice for the innocent girl.

During the course of the investigation, the prime accused in the murder case, identified as Anan Tanti, was taken into police custody. However, while being transported, Anan Tanti attempted to escape and sustained bullet injuries in the process.
