Biswanath: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the ‘Lakhpati Baideo’ initiative today at New Kettala Playground, Borgang, Behali. Under this scheme, 23,375 women entrepreneurs received financial support in the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMMUA). A total of 27,04,161 Self-Help Group (SHG) members will benefit, promoting women’s financial independence.
Financial Support for Women Entrepreneurs
Dr. Sarma distributed ₹10,000 as seed capital to each beneficiary. He announced that:
- Successful entrepreneurs will get ₹25,000 in the second year, with ₹12,500 as a state grant and ₹12,500 as a bank loan.
- Women who achieve business success will receive ₹50,000 in the third year.
The state has allocated ₹1,090 crore to 2.17 lakh SHGs under various schemes. An e-commerce platform has also been developed to support women entrepreneurs.
Additional Announcements
- Students from poor families appearing for Matric exams will get ₹300 per month for tuition.
- The government will reduce electricity prices by ₹1 per unit.
- The state will buy paddy at ₹2,550 per quintal and mustard at ₹6,450 per quintal.
Healthcare Initiatives
Dr. Sarma inaugurated a special health camp at Rupjyoti Kala Parishad Field, Pabhoi, Biswanath. These camps offer free health check-ups, consultations, and medicines across villages, urban areas, and tribal councils. He also handed ₹2 lakh each to 10 retired ASHA workers for their service.
Dr. Sarma further inaugurated the Circuit House in Biswanath and planted an Ajar sapling as part of the event.
Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and other dignitaries attended the grand occasion.
