Jorhat: Access to clean drinking water is essential, yet many rural communities still struggle to get it. On World Water Day, Cairn Oil & Gas took a step towards solving this issue in rural Assam by installing seven tubewells in Pas Chamua village, Naginijan. This initiative now provides safe drinking water to hundreds of villagers.
Additionally, Cairn has installed Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purifiers in two key public offices, ensuring clean water for nearly 500 visitors who come to access government services and legal assistance.
For years, the village relied on an open pond as its main water source. However, the contaminated water caused health problems for the residents. With the new tubewells, villagers now have safe and easy access to clean drinking water, significantly improving their health and daily lives.
“Earlier, we struggled to get clean water because our only source was a pond. Now, with these tubewells, our lives have become easier,” said Ritumoni Chetia, a resident of Pas Chamua village.
The Village Development Committee (VDC) thanked Cairn Oil & Gas for understanding their problems and offering real solutions.
“The Cairn team took the time to understand our challenges and provided tubewells. This is just one of many initiatives they have planned to improve our area,” said Tultul Saikia, President of the VDC.
Cairn Oil & Gas continues to focus on sustainable and community-driven projects to improve the lives of people in the regions where it operates. The World Water Day initiative highlights the company’s dedication to providing basic necessities like clean water to those who need them the most.
