Guwahati: Assam down town University (AdtU) marked World Optometry Day with a series of activities promoting eye health and awareness. The event, organized by the Optometry Program under the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, saw active participation from faculty members, students, and the university community.
This year’s theme, “Eyes to the Future: Optometry Improving Global Wellness,” emphasized the importance of vision care in daily life and the need for preventive eye health measures.
As part of the celebration, a Free Eye Screening Camp was held on March 21, offering vision check-ups to students, faculty, and staff. The initiative aimed to identify common eye problems and encourage timely treatment.
On March 22, a special Lecture Series was conducted by Dr. Angshuman Deka, Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Director of Guwahati Eye & Multi-Speciality Centre. Experts shared insights on latest advancements in optometry and eye health, enriching attendees’ knowledge.
A Scientific Poster Competition also took place, where Optometry students presented their research on various aspects of eye care. The event was inaugurated by AdtU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar. The posters reflected new developments and innovations in optometry.
The celebrations concluded with a lively Cultural Program, bringing participants together in a spirit of unity and learning.
