Guwahati: The Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, organized a ‘Stakeholders Workshop on Aviation Weather Services’ on October 25, 2024, at the Guwahati International Airport. Representatives from the aviation industry, Indian Air Force, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and various airlines attended the event.
K.N. Mohan, Scientist-G and Head of the Regional Meteorological Centre, highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing for improving aviation weather services. Chief Guest M. Raja Kishore, Regional Executive Director of AAI, emphasized the critical role of meteorological services in the aviation sector. Guest-of-Honour Srinivasan Gangadharan from GIAL shared insights on the significance of aviation meteorology.
The technical session featured presentations by IMD scientists on aviation services, focusing on challenges posed by adverse weather in Northeast India. Tana Tage from the Centre for Earth Sciences and Himalayan Studies discussed collaboration between IMD and the Arunachal Pradesh government. Airline representatives and the IAF praised IMD’s services for civil and defense aviation operations.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjay O’Neill Shaw, with Ms. Priyanka Singh serving as the program’s anchor.
