Sivasagar, 23 January: At least twenty-five rare species of vultures lost their lives in Sivasagar. On the other hand, eight vultures are seriously ill. It is learnt that such an incident took place due to consumption of dead cows. The forest department team reached the spot after locals informed the forest department. Eight vultures were rushed to the state veterinary hospital in Sivasagar for treatment. Twenty-five of the dead vultures were buried at the spot after post-mortem.
The social conscious public said that such a tragic incident took place due to irresponsible dumping of dead animals in the open.
