Guwahati – For the first time, a seaplane has landed in both Assam and Meghalaya, showcasing the potential for innovative travel solutions in the region. The demonstration highlights the feasibility of seaplane services to boost connectivity across the challenging terrains of the Northeast.
In Assam, the seaplane landed at Pandu Port in Guwahati on Friday, after taking off from Borjhar. Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and Mayor Mrigen Sarania experienced a ride aboard the plane, signaling excitement over the region’s tourism and connectivity prospects.
A day earlier, the seaplane landed on Meghalaya’s picturesque Umiam Lake in an event organized by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Meghalaya Transport Department. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, along with other dignitaries, attended the event.
