Guwahati : Guwahati residents can expect temporary traffic disruptions on either side of the road where the ongoing Maligaon flyover construction is taking place. From 10 PM to 6 AM, the Chief Minister, Dr. Sarma, announced the closure of one side of the road as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. The decision was made following discussions with senior officers from the Public Works Department (PWD), Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah, and Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha on June 13.
During the discussions, Dr. Sarma stressed the government’s commitment to completing the flyover construction project at the earliest possible time. As the flyover is currently in its advanced stage, efforts are being made to expedite its completion for the benefit of all residents.
In a concerning incident that occurred yesterday, a shutter plate fell from the under-construction flyover, resulting in injuries to two workers who were underneath at the time. Reacting swiftly, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma promptly arrived at the site to assess the situation and take stock of the incident. He then proceeded to visit the hospital where the injured workers were admitted, personally interacting with the attending doctors to ascertain their condition.
The Chief Minister’s visit to the hospital also included meeting with the families of the injured workers to offer support and assure them of the government’s commitment to their well-being.
