Guwahati: Two workers were injured today after a shutter plate fell from the under-construction flyover in Maligaon. According to reports, an iron shuttering slab fell from above and hit two individuals involved in the construction project. The injured workers were promptly taken to a hospital for immediate medical attention.
Following the incident, Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma rushed to the location to assess the situation. He also visited the hospital where the affected workers were admitted, speaking with the attending doctors to gather information about their condition. Dr. Sarma met with the injured workers’ family members during his visit.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma held discussions with senior officers of the Public Works Department (PWD). He also met with Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah and Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha. Dr. Sarma emphasized the need to ensure public safety and announced that one side of the road, where the flyover is being constructed, would be closed for traffic between 10 PM and 6 AM. Additionally, he mentioned that a traffic management plan would be implemented to facilitate the convenience of commuters. Dr. Sarma highlighted that the flyover construction was in its advanced stage and the government was making every effort to complete it as soon as possible for the benefit of all.
