Assam Government Signs MoU with N.F. Railway and NRL

Guwahati: The Government of Assam has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Railways and NRL for the construction of a second entry to Guwahati railway station and the supply of high-speed diesel for TWT vessels. The signing ceremony took place on June 14 at Janata Bhawan in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

As part of the MoU with the Railways, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and North East Frontier Railway have agreed to exchange land for the construction of the second entry to Guwahati railway station, which will be a next-generation railway station. Under the MoU, ASTC has handed over four bigha, four kathas, and 19 lechas of land to the railways. In return, the railway has provided 20 bigha, two katha, and one lecha of land to ASTC at Jalukbari along NH 31. Additionally, the railway has given Rs. 5.93 crore to ASTC.

Furthermore, as part of the second MoU between the Directorate of Inland Water Transport Assam and NRL, the IWT will receive high-speed diesel from NRL for its vessels in Assam.

It is worth noting that Rahul Das, MD of ASTC, signed the MoU on behalf of ASTC, while Sai Singh Kongrymmai, Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Lumding Division, signed on behalf of NFR.

On the other hand, Partha Pegu, Director of IWT, and Subrata Das, Chief General Manager of Marketing at NRL, signed the MoU for IWT and NRL, respectively.

Adviser, Education to Government of Assam Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Commissioner Transport Adil Khan, GM NF Railway Chetan Srivastava, MD NRL Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan and a host of senior officers of the government were present on the occasion.
