Guwahati faces scorching heat, second-highest for June

Guwahati : Guwahati city in Assam faced extreme heat as the temperature reached a scorching 38.9°C on June 7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that it was the second-highest recorded maximum temperature for the month of June.

The previous record of the highest maximum temperature in Guwahati for June was 39°C, set on June 13, 2019. The temperature on Wednesday came close but did not surpass that record. Extreme heat has been observed across Assam for the past few days. As a result, school timings have been adjusted, and people are advised to consider their activities before going outside.
