Congress Faces Setback In Assam As Two MLAs Extend Support To BJP-Led Government

On the other hand, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha and Basanta Das have been issued showcause notices by the party leadership. The notice addressed to them highlights concerns raised by APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah regarding their statements offering support to the state BJP Government and expressing allegiance to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The notice emphasizes that while the MLAs had previously spoken out against alleged corruptions and issues under the BJP government, their recent statements have created misgivings among party workers and tarnished the image of the Congress party. The MLAs are asked to clarify their stand and intentions within a day to avoid disciplinary actions.
