Unemployment Soars in Assam Under BJP Rule: Akhil Gogoi

Guwahati: MLA Akhil Gogoi from Sivasagar Assembly constituency has raised concerns over the escalating unemployment crisis in Assam under the BJP government’s tenure. Speaking to reporters at the Assembly premises ahead of the Assam assembly session, Gogoi highlighted alarming statistics from the “Economic Survey, Assam 2023-24.”

According to the survey, the number of registered unemployed individuals in Assam has surged to a record high of 32,34,738. Gogoi said that when the BJP assumed power in 2017, there were 19,63,376 registered unemployed individuals in Assam. However, under the BJP’s six-year rule, the unemployment figure skyrocketed to 12,71,362 by 2022.

Gogoi expressed disappointment that despite the BJP’s electoral promises to address unemployment, the crisis worsened during their tenure.
