Guwahati: Tourist visas are being misused in Assam. the Assam Police said today. Director General of Police Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said Bangladeshi religious leaders violated tourist visa norms. It is by holding religious meetings in remote parts of the state.
The police said this a day after 17 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Assam’s Biswanath district. Recently, a group of 17 Bangladeshi nationals, led by one Syed Ashraful Alam, was arrested for allegedly carrying out religious propaganda from Baghmari area of Biswanath district. In this regard, the Assam Police mentioned this in Guwahati.
