Guwahati: The 9th All India Police Judo Cluster was inaugurated by Assam’s Director General of Police, G. P. Singh, IPS, at the Karmabeer Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Sarusojai. The opening ceremony was graced by D.G. Home Guards and Special DGP (HQ) Harmeet Singh, IPS, along with senior civil and police officers, guests, renowned sports personalities, school students, and participating athletes, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
The week-long event, which will run until June 30, features five martial arts disciplines: Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Wushu, and Pencak Silat. Athletes from various police forces will compete, showcasing their exceptional skills and talents in a spirit of healthy competition.
Harmeet Singh, IPS, delivered the welcome address, and Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS, offered the vote of thanks. In his speech, DGP Sri Singh commended the athletes and encouraged them to enjoy the rainy weather and the scenic beauty of Assam.
During the opening ceremony, an oath was administered to the team captains, and the DGP unveiled the event’s mascot, Luit. The ceremony was further enlivened by an enthralling Bihu performance.
