Rudrangkur Hazarika, the president of the AAP’s youth wing in the state, said that women resorted to this protest because the government wasn’t addressing their concerns.
The Assam Trinamool Congress condemned the incident, pointing out that the BJP promised to protect indigenous people’s land while Assamese women are forced to protest in this manner.
In 2008, the government declared Silsako Beel a protected water body and prohibited construction or settlement in the lake area, covering over 595 acres.
