Guwahati: A devastating incident occurred on May 25 in the Jaipur area of Kharguli, Guwahati, at around 3 pm, when a water pipe burst. Horrifying footage captured by numerous eyewitnesses shows the immense force of the water, demolishing trees and houses in its path. As a result, several four-wheelers and scooters were swept away, and tragically, a woman lost her life while several others sustained injuries.
Panchami Choudhury, Secretary of the Jal Board, stated that an investigation is currently underway, and definitive conclusions can only be drawn once the report is received.
Pallav Gopal Jha, the Managing Director of the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board, arrived at the site to assess the situation. The Deputy Commissioner of Guwahati arrived around 10 pm and engaged in discussions with the local residents. Pallav Gopal Jha, after listening to complaints, assured that an inquiry would be conducted.
