Urmila Mahanta Wins ‘Outstanding Versatile Performer of the Year’ Award

Acclaimed actress Urmila Mahanta has won the ‘Outstanding Versatile Performer of the Year’ award from Times Network. This honour confirms her place as one of the most talented and respected film stars from Northeast India.

The award was part of Times Network’s “Gems of Northeast” celebration, which honoured 36 people and organisations for their great work in different fields. Mahanta stood out for her powerful performances across many film industries.

She has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Hindi, and Assamese films. Her talent and ability to play many different roles have made her a well-known name in Indian cinema, breaking regional limits.

Her latest film, Sikaar—the first Indo-British Assamese film—featured her in the lead role along with Zubeen Garg and international actor Adil Hussain.

The award ceremony brought together famous personalities, leaders, and achievers from across Northeast India for an evening full of inspiration and celebration.
