Two Ferries Collide at Aphalamukh Ghat in Majuli

Majuli: A ferry accident happened at Aphalamukh Ghat in Majuli around 8:30 AM on April 11. A Ro-Pax ferry named SB Sarumai lost control and hit a smaller ferry that was standing at the ghat.

The smaller ferry was loading vehicles when the accident happened. Another ferry named Padma was behind it, so it could not move away in time.

Many passengers panicked and some jumped into the river out of fear. But luckily, no one died or got seriously hurt.

Eyewitnesses said it was a scary scene. One passenger said, “People started shouting. Everyone was scared. But thankfully, we are safe.”

The collision damaged SB Sarumai. Cracks were seen on both sides of the ferry.

After the accident, ferry service at Aphalamukh Ghat stopped for a few hours. Many people got stranded on both sides of the river.

Rescue teams and local officials came quickly. They made sure that all passengers were safe. No one was missing.

Officials are checking how the accident happened. Early reports say there was a lack of communication between the ferry operators.
