Guwahati: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), formed after the merger of the Assam Board of Secondary Education and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, announced the results of the 2025 high school examination on Friday. This was the first time the exam was conducted under the newly formed board.

Out of 4,22,737 students who appeared in the exam, 2,70,471 students passed, making the overall pass percentage 63.98%. A total of 1,52,266 students failed the examination. This year’s pass percentage saw a big drop compared to the previous years — 72.6% in 2023 and 75.7% in 2024.

Despite the dip in results, ASSEB set a record by declaring the results just 38 days after the exam. According to board secretary Naranarayan Nath, this quick result declaration was made possible through teamwork and the use of modern technology.

Like last year, girl students performed better than boys. The pass percentage among girls was 67.59%, while only 61.09% of boys passed the examination.

This year’s top three positions were secured by students from private schools in Jorhat and Guwahati:

  1. Amishi Saikia, Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat – 98.50% (1st Position)
  2. Saptarsh Bordoloi, Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati, Guwahati – 98.33% (2nd Position)
  3. Anirban Borgohain, Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat – 98.17% (3rd Position)
