‘The Cultivators’ Celebrate Rabha Divas in Dhaka, the Birthplace of Bishnu Prasad Rabha

There is no need to discuss once again the legacy left behind by the ‘Kalaguru’ Bishnu Prasad Rabha for the Assamese nation. Every year, we commemorate his death anniversary as Rabha Divas and pay tribute to this great Assamese by organizing various programs. We have witnessed parties, organizations, and educational institutions celebrating Rabha Divas in different parts of Assam. The day is marked by singing and reciting songs and poems of the ‘soldier-artist’ Bishnu Prasad Rabha. This year was no exception. However, we have received unique news in the meantime. It is the commemoration of Bishnu Prasad Rabha on June 20 in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, his birthplace, by some Assamese artists.

‘The Cultivators’ is a popular music group in Assam, led by singer, music director, and producer Arupjyoti Barua. They celebrated Rabha Divas with music and other cultural events on June 20, 2023, at Dhaka University.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Assam and the Alumni Association of the Department of Psychology at Dhaka University. Alongside lead vocalist Arupjyoti Barua, the group includes musicians Bikash Kalita, Ishanu, Jitul Das, Mantu Das, Sourav Das, and Nilotpal Hazarika. They all performed on Bishnu Rabha Divas in Dhaka, and the young dynamic actress and dancer Violina Bardoloi participated in the dance program. The Cultivators are delighted to pay tribute to the great Assamese artist at the birthplace of Bishnu Prasad Rabha during the event held at Dhaka University.
