Technical Glitches Hit Assam’s New Electric Bus Service

Guwahati: In a setback to Assam’s newly launched electric bus services by the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), passengers faced inconvenience as one of the electric buses encountered technical issues in the Lachit Nagar area of Guwahati, leaving them stranded for almost an hour.

The ASTC’s initiative, inaugurated on January 1 by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, aimed to introduce 200 new electric buses, enhancing sustainable and eco-friendly transportation in Guwahati.

However, recent technical glitches have raised doubts about the smooth operation of these electric buses.

According to media reports, the bus abruptly stopped due to technical issues with the fuse, causing an hour-long delay in services.

The ASTC’s technical team arrived later to address the problem and carry out necessary repairs.

The sudden halt of the bus led to severe traffic congestion in the area for a brief period, prompting traffic personnel to rush to the spot to manage and de-congest the area.
