Guwahati: After several days of scorching heat in Guwahati, people finally experienced some relief as rain arrived around 1 pm today. The region has been facing a heatwave, causing discomfort across Assam.
The rain brought a much-needed break from the intense heat. It provided temporary relief, lowering the temperatures and making it more bearable for everyone.
Guwahati city in Assam faced extreme heat as the temperature reached a scorching 38.9°C on June 7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that it was the second-highest recorded maximum temperature for the month of June.
The previous record of the highest maximum temperature in Guwahati for June was 39°C, set on June 13, 2019. The temperature on Wednesday came close but did not surpass that record. Extreme heat has been observed across Assam for the past few days. As a result, school timings have been adjusted, and people are advised to consider their activities before going outside.
