Guwahati: In celebration of World Milk Day, Assam’s largest dairy cooperative, Purabi Dairy, organized a drawing competition and a nutrition camp for school children in Guwahati. The Purabi World Milk Day 2024 Art and Drawing Contest attracted over 100 children from various schools across the city, providing a platform for them to showcase their creativity and learn about the importance of milk in their diet.
The drawing competition allowed young participants to express their imagination and artistic talent, with themes centered around dairying in Assam and the significance of milk for physical and mental health. The colorful and innovative artworks highlighted the children’s understanding of these vital topics.
World Milk Day, celebrated annually on June 1 by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), recognizes the importance of milk as a global food and celebrates the dairy sector. This year’s theme focused on the crucial role dairy plays in providing quality nutrition to nourish the world.
Purabi Dairy’s initiative aimed to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of milk and encourage healthy eating habits among children. The event was well-received by parents and teachers, who praised the cooperative’s efforts to promote children’s well-being through educational activities.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the drawing competition and participation certificates for all the children. The joy on the faces of the young artists and their newfound knowledge about nutrition marked a successful celebration of World Milk Day 2024 in Guwahati.

The prize winners in Group B (Class 8 – Class 12) were:
- 1st Position: Udipta Pathak
- 2nd Position: Rituparno Roy
- 3rd Position: Anie Kashyap
The event was judged by renowned artists Anup Kr Sarma, President of Rupvarnam Fine Arts Society, and Ms. Sagarika Sarma, an acclaimed international artist from Assam.
