NDRF Rescues Youth from Drowning in Brahmaputra at Uzanbazar

Guwahati: The team from 1st Battalion of NDRF, stationed at IWT Uzanbazar, Guwahati, saved the life of a young man from drowning in the River Brahmaputra early this morning.

Around 3:35 AM, sentries from NDRF Team 1-L heard cries for help coming from the river’s strong current. Using searchlights, they spotted a person struggling in the waters, being swept toward Umananda Island.

Without delay, Inspector Lal Ringsan and his team entered the turbulent river and successfully rescued the individual. After pulling him to safety, they administered pre-hospital emergency treatment on the spot.

The rescued person was identified as Hazarat Ali, approximately 23 years old, son of Surbhat Ali and a resident of Mangaldoi in Darrang district, Assam.

The Latasil Police Station was informed immediately, and the victim was safely handed over to police for further action.

This timely and heroic action by the NDRF has been widely appreciated for preventing a possible tragedy on the banks of the Brahmaputra.
