Guwahati: National Health Mission, Assam organized Swasthya Manthan-12, a review
cum orientation workshop on 6th to 7th June, 2024 at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara Guwahati.
Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Mission Director – NHM, Assam, Dr. Umesh Phangcho, Director of Health Services, Dr. Kareng Rongpipi, Additional DHS, State Programme Officials and District Health teams along with officials from partner organizations were present in the meeting.
The review cum workshop was held with participants from all the districts, led by the Joint Director of Health Services along with District Programme Management Unit including District Programme Managers, District Data Managers, District Accounts Managers, District Community Mobilizers, District Programme Coordinators (NCD) and other concerned district officials.
The program commenced with MD-NHM presenting the gist of overall NHM performance for the financial year 2023-24, appreciating the best performing districts for their hard work and dedication, and encouraging all for ensuring better results in the coming years. Further a district wise review was held on the health performance of each district of all the NHM programmes along with discussion on the district record of proceeding (RoP) dissemination for the financial year 2024-26 was done and as
accordingly discussions were held on how to improve the health status of the people in the state.
Inthe meeting, district wise gaps identification and in accordance with that improvement strategies were presented and discussed in detail. It is expected to determine any further course correction that may be required by the districts and any handholding required to improve the health indicators. In the review meet, the best performers and best performing districts were awarded under various categories and also State Division teams and partner organizations were felicitated by Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Mission Director – NHM, Assam for their hard work and dedication towards improving the
health system.
It is worth mentioning here that as per reported figures Assam has shown improvement in the Health Indicators-
- The number of Maternal Death cases during the financial year 2023-24 is reported as 374 against 510 number of deaths during the financial year 2022-23, showing a decline of 136 deaths
(26.7%). - The number of Child Death cases in during the financial year 2023-24 is reported as 4,793 against 6,721 number of deaths during the financial year 2022-23, showing a decline of 1,928 deaths
(28.7%).
It may be noted that, this is the 12th Swasthya Manthan held under the initiative of Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Mission Director – NHM, Assam. The previous Swasthya Manthans from 1st to 11th were held on 08th June, 2022, 02nd August, 2022, 27th September, 2022, 31st October, 2022 , 28th December
2022 , 4th March 2023, 26th April 2023, 3rd June 2023, 29th September 2023, 29th November 2023 and 30th January 2024 respectively.
