National Games 23: Assam Boxing Team’s Support Staff Denied Permission


Guwahati: Assam boxing team’s plans for the 37th National Games in Goa faced a setback as the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Regional Centre, declined permit to its support staff.

Assam Olympic Association (AOA) sources informed that the travel arrangements and tickets were already booked in advance, but the SAI regional centre denied permission to the support staff to join the contingent in Goa.

“We requested the SAI Regional Centre on October 24 to permit the support staff to accompany the Assam boxing team from October 30 to November 10. Unfortunately, our request has been denied,” the source said.

The source also shared the letter in which the AOA general secretary Lakhya Konwar sought SAI RC executive director’s permission for the three boxers, a coach, and a massage therapist for the aforementioned period.
