Former DNLA Cadres Lay Down Arms, Receive Financial Grants

Haflong : 181 former members of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) laid down their arms at a ceremony held at the District Sports Association ground in Haflong. Each of the former cadres received a financial grant of ₹4 lakh in the form of fixed deposits.

Addressing the event, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed the disarmament as a historic moment, emphasizing the region’s progress and prosperity. Dr. Sarma commended Dimasa civil society groups, intellectuals, and prominent figures for their mediation efforts in bringing the DNLA to the negotiating table in 2021. Expressing optimism, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the former rebels would utilize the financial support to achieve financial self-reliance in the future.
