Guwahati : A CME event focusing on deceased organ donation was conducted at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital on September 30. The inaugural session was graced by Sri Siddharth Singh, Commissioner & Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department. The event, organized by the Department of Nephrology, Urology, and ROTTO, saw participation from various healthcare professionals, including Dr. AC Baishya, the Principal of GMCH, and Dr. Abhijit Sarma, the Superintendent of GMCH, who emphasized the significance of deceased organ donation.

Dr. Swarnalatha Guditi, Professor & Head of Nephrology at NIMS Hyderabad, was a guest speaker, sharing insights into the key aspects, initiation, training, and maintenance of deceased organ donation programs. The head of Nephrology at GMCH, Dr. Manjuri Sharma, discussed cadaveric transplantation, while Dr. Sasanka Kr Baruah, Professor & Head of Urology, delivered a talk on organ retrieval.
In addition to the faculty and students of GMCH, the CME attracted doctors and members from various private hospitals in Guwahati. The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants for contributing to the success of the event.
