Guwahati: Makrand Deouskar, an IPS officer of the 1997 batch from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has taken over as the Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier. With extensive experience in policing, Deouskar has served in various key positions, including SP in multiple districts of Madhya Pradesh, DIG Jabalpur range, DIG Intelligence, IG Intelligence, IG Hoshangabad zone, IG (CID), and OSD to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

He was also the first Police Commissioner of Bhopal after the introduction of the Commissionerate system in the state. In 2013, Deouskar was awarded the Police Medal for meritorious service. He joined the BSF on deputation in February 2024 and previously commanded the Rajasthan Frontier of the BSF before taking over the Guwahati Frontier.
Upon assuming his new role, Deouskar emphasized the importance of effective border management to prevent crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border and the need to instill a sense of security among the people living in the border areas. He also highlighted the significance of maintaining the cordial relationship between the border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh.
