Journalists Protest in Front of the East Guwahati Press Club, Demand Suspension of Police Officer

Guwahati: Members of the East Guwahati Press Club protested in front of the club, wearing black badges, demanding the suspension of Sandeep Kumar Kanu, the police officer-in-charge of Satgaon police station. The journalists gathered at Narengi in Guwahati to voice their concerns.

During the protest, Gokul Talukdar, the Working President of the East Guwahati Press Club, and Manoj Kumar Deka, the General Secretary, demanded appropriate action against the police officer.
Sushmita Goswami, the President of the Guwahati Press Club, also participated in the protest.

The protest was in response to Sandeep Kumar Kanu, the officer-in-charge of Satgaon police station, allegedly misbehaving with a journalist.

Notable individuals and organisations present during the protest included Sushmita Goswami, the President of the Guwahati Press Club; Reena Barua Kalita, a Central Executive Member of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad; Kamal Bora, the General Secretary of the Narengi Development Committee; Pradeep Kalita, a Social Activist; the Noonmati Students’ Union; the Narengi Students’ Union; the Satgaon Students’ Union; the Zoo-Narengi Students’ Union; and various Journalists’ Associations.
