Guwahati: Journalist Hemanta Sarma’s short film ‘To Let’ has won the Best Concept Award at the Bay of Bengal International Film Festival, organized by an Indian filmmakers’ association. The award ceremony will be held on June 2 in Howrah, Kolkata.
Selected from nearly 300 short films submitted from around the world, ‘To Let’ stood out for its theme and concept. The film has also been chosen for the competition section at several international film festivals.
The film focuses on the idea of secularism. According to Hemant Sarma, the story is based on a small and ordinary incident that reflects the spirit of living together in a secular country.
Hemant Sarma wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogues, and also directed the film. It was produced by Utpal Bania, owner of Assamese jewellery brand Doogdoogi.
