Guwahati: Itkhola Athletic Club lifted the 7th Assam Premier Club Championship title with a thrilling 1-wicket win over Triranga CCC in the final held in Guwahati on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Itkhola chose to field and bowled out Triranga CCC for just 97 runs in 29.1 overs. Kabir Hassan Deshmukh top-scored for Triranga with 41 runs off 55 balls, while Hritwik Dhar starred with the ball for Itkhola, taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs.
Chasing 98, Itkhola AC reached the target with 9 wickets down in 31.2 overs. Sourav Saha played a vital knock of 16 off 52 balls, holding the innings together. Triranga’s Dipankar Paul impressed with the ball, taking 6 wickets for 19 runs and nearly turning the game in his team’s favour.
Hritwik Dhar was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round performance. He also won ‘Player of the Tournament’ and ‘Best Bowler’ awards. Kabir Hassan Deshmukh of Triranga CCC received the ‘Best Batter’ award.
Honorary BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia handed over the trophy and congratulated both teams for their outstanding performances. ACA Secretary Tridib Konwar also praised the high quality of cricket and reaffirmed ACA’s focus on promoting grassroots cricket in Assam.
