Dr. Amal Chandra Kataki

Prof. (Dr.) Amal Chandra Kataki is a distinguished Gynecologic Oncologist and visionary medical administrator widely credited with modernising cancer care infrastructure in Northeast India. He currently serves as the Director of Medical Administration at the PA Sangma International Medical College (PIMC), USTM.Previously, Dr. Kataki served as the long-standing Director of the Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), where he successfully spearheaded its historic integration into the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai under the Government of India. Professionally trained at elite institutions like the Tata Memorial Hospital (Mumbai), Mayo Clinic (USA), and MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA), he is a recipient of the prestigious AIIMS Guwahati Lifetime Achievement Award (2026) and an Honorary D.Sc. from Gauhati University (2025) for his monumental contributions to public healthcare and oncology research.
