Guwahati Asian Film Festival 2025 to Showcase 22 Films
GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) 2025 will be held from February 7 to 9 at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio, Guwahati. The three-day festival will showcase over 22 films from across Asia, including countries like Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Sri Lanka. It will also focus on promoting films from Assam and the North-East region through a special competition section with awards for Best Film, Best Direction, and Best Performance.
The festival will open with the Iranian film “In the Arms of the Tree” by Babak Khajehpasha. The closing film will be “My Melbourne”, directed by Imtiaz Ali, Rima Das, Onir, and Kabir Khan. Organized by Trending Now Media, the event aims to celebrate Asian cinema and create opportunities for cultural exchange.
The festival will also include panel discussions and workshops led by well-known filmmakers and experts. Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage will attend as the chief guest. Other notable participants include film critics Srinivasa Santhanam, Utpal Borpujari, Manju Borah, and Dalton Christopher.
Festival Director Monita Borgohain said GAFF 2025 will bring the best of Asian cinema to audiences while giving a platform to North-East filmmakers. Programme Director Kishore Kumar Sarma urged cine-lovers to attend and experience diverse cultures and stories through films.
