Guwahati: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for Assam, forecasting enhanced thunderstorm and rainfall activity from 14th to 18th April 2024. The current meteorological conditions indicate a cyclonic circulation over North Bangladesh and neighboring areas, leading to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal towards Assam due to southerly to southwesterly winds at lower levels.

As a result of these synoptic conditions, isolated to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected in Assam during the mentioned period. Moreover, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated on 16th and 17th April 2024.
