The BJP’s selection process involved shortlisting 10 candidates from a pool of nominations for the two Rajya Sabha seats. The election is scheduled for September 3.

These seats were vacated following the 18th Lok Sabha elections, after Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa moved from the Rajya Sabha to other positions.
