Guwahati: Dilip Saikia on Tuesday visited the state office of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) at Ambari in Guwahati following an invitation from the NDA ally.
He was welcomed by AGP President Atul Bora, Working President Keshab Mahanta and other senior leaders of the party. BJP Assam Organisational General Secretary G.R. Ravindra Raju, newly elected Nalbari MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah and several BJP leaders were also present.
Leaders of both parties held a review meeting on the NDA’s performance in the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections, where the alliance secured a landslide victory.
During the meeting, Dilip Saikia congratulated Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and all newly elected AGP MLAs. He expressed hope that AGP legislators would work for the welfare and development of Assam over the next five years.
Saikia said the NDA’s victory in 102 out of 126 Assembly seats would be remembered as a historic achievement. He described the result as a victory of the people of Assam and the indigenous communities of the state.
He also praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his leadership and expressed confidence that the NDA would form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term.
Recalling the long-standing alliance between BJP and AGP since 2001, Saikia said both parties have remained united despite political challenges. He described the BJP-AGP alliance as a strong partnership working towards the goal of building a progressive Assam.
