Guwahati : Assam Trinamool Congress President, Ripun Bora has expressed his disappointment over the imposition of taxes on sacred spiritual events like Durga Puja. This year, every Durga Puja committee will have to pay Rs 300 for Durga Puja and Rs 100 for idol immersion. This decision has the potential to hurt the sentiments of the people.

In a video message, the Assam Trinamool Congress strongly opposed this government decision. President Ripun Bora stated that if the people of the state have to pay taxes for worshipping Goddess Durga, it would be a regrettable situation. Therefore, the state government should immediately revoke such a decision.
