Assam Congress Protests Government’s Land Allotment for Palm Cultivation

Guwahati : Members of the Assam Pradesh Kishan Congress expressed their opposition to the government’s decision to allocate land for palm cultivation to Ram Dev in Sadiya, Assam. The protest took place in front of the Department of Agriculture Office at Khanapara on August 24.

Leading the protest was Romen Chandra Borthakur, the Incharge of Assam Pradesh Kishan Congress and a senior Congress leader. The event saw the presence of Hari Prasad Saikia, President of Kishan Congress, Nandita Das, MLA from Boko Assembly constituency, Diganta Bhushan Barman, MLA from Barakhetri assembly constituency, along with members of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.

During the protest, a memorandum was also sent to the Government of Assam, conveying the concerns of the protestors regarding the land allocation decision.
