Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the long-awaited ‘Nilachal Flyover’ on August 30. The new flyover’s name was revealed just hours before its opening, providing relief to commuters in Guwahati who had been facing traffic jams due to ongoing construction on the Bharalumukh-Jalukbari road.
The construction of the 4-lane steel girder flyover, spanning an impressive 2.63 km, began in March 2021 with an investment of ₹420.75 crore. The foundation stone for the project was laid in October 2020. After nearly three years of anticipation, Guwahati residents can now enjoy smoother commuting on Assam’s longest flyover.
The inauguration was attended by Minister Ashok Singhal, Mayor Mrigen Sarakia, MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Atul Bora, and MP Queen Ojha.
