Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the ‘Aideo’ cinema hall at Jonaki Complex in Guwahati’s Panjabari area on Magh Bihu. This initiative is part of the Assam State Film Corporation’s golden jubilee year projects, aiming to boost the state’s film industry.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for technological upgrades, including digital systems, graphics, sound, and storytelling techniques, to elevate the standards of Assamese cinema. He stressed the importance of competitiveness within the industry, urging for a focus on quality to attract audiences and sustain the growth of local cinema halls.
As part of the state government’s efforts, five new cinema halls and the renovation of nine existing ones are underway. The ‘Aideo’ cinema hall is a significant step in revitalizing the Jollywood industry, aligning with the evolving demands of the film landscape. Sarma highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting and promoting Assamese cinema by providing modern facilities and encouraging a competitive spirit among filmmakers.
