Japanese Speaker Visits Tata Semiconductor Plant in Jagiroad, Assam CM Welcomes Delegation

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today welcomed the Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, Nukaga Fukushiro, and his delegation at the under-construction Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Facility in Jagiroad.

On the second day of their three-day visit to Assam, the Japanese team toured the facility to review the progress of the plant. Speaking on the occasion, CM Sarma said the visit was a strong step towards attracting Japanese investments to the state.

He noted that this was the fourth Japanese delegation visit to Assam in a short time, reflecting deepening ties between Japan and Assam. He also shared that Japan has removed all travel restrictions for tourists visiting Assam and continues to support the state in key areas like health and infrastructure.

Dr. Sarma highlighted Japan’s global leadership in semiconductor technology and said its involvement in Assam would boost tech capabilities, improve the supply chain, and support local employment.

Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Bimal Bora, and Nandita Gorlosa, along with Tata project head Ashish Mishra and other dignitaries, were also present.
