Trinamool Congress Delegation Visits Eviction Site in Guwahati

Guwahati: A delegation from Assam’s Trinamool Congress visited the Silasako eviction site, where women protested naked against the ongoing eviction drive. Led by Tapan Kalita, the president of Assam Trinamool Congress’s Kamrup Metro District Committee, the delegation expressed solidarity with those affected.

They voiced strong criticism of the government, pointing out that while it has allowed establishments and merchant groups in the Silsako area to construct buildings and provided them with electricity, it is now targeting ordinary people’s homes.

Initially, local women resorted to extreme measures, including a semi-nude protest, to halt the eviction drive.

Tapan Kalita, the president of Kamrup TMC, Rekha Buragohain from the city Trinamool Mahila Congress, and other leaders have called on the government to promptly rehabilitate the affected people of Silsako.
