Itanagar : The 5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championship commenced on Sunday at the Don Bosco College ground in Itanagar.
Organized by the Arunachal Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) under the supervision of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and with the support of the Directorate of Sports, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the championship promises to be an exhilarating event showcasing the boxing skills of talented young athletes from across the country.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who formally inaugurated the championship, extended a warm welcome to all the boxers, technical officials, and guests in attendance. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Pema Khandu highlighted the significant progress in sports witnessed by Arunachal Pradesh in recent years. He expressed gratitude to the Central government for allocating a Centre of Excellence for sports development in the state.
Guest of Honor, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mama Natung, and Special Guest Hemanta Kumar Kalita, Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), also attended the event.
Hemanta Kumar Kalita, Secretary General of BFI, hailed the event as historic, highlighting that with 367 boxers, it stands as one of the largest boxing championships in the country.
The championship will witness 34 bouts scheduled for today and will conclude on July 14.
